Baby wipes

My son is a year old and suffers with atopic eczema. Since his skin became bad at a few months old I stopped using any wipes on him and have just used cotton wool and water. However, I am finding this is becomming less practical now he is walking, putting his hands in things, falling over etc etc. It would be handy to have something in my bag I can use on him. Has anyone found any good ones?

Re: Baby wipes

We used the fragrance free wipes from boots and also the kirkland fragrance free from costco. We did only use them for emergencies when out and about though as felt they did still irritate a little but was better than him staying dirty.

Re: Baby wipes

We used simple baby wipes but having just bought some today, for trips to the park and messy out door stuff now they are getting bigger, I have just read they now contain properties of soothing chamomile. But they still say no perfume. Hope they are ok.

Don't you just hate it when companies change their products. I hope they are ok and don't cause a problem.

Re: Baby wipes

Thanks :) I have heard good and bad reports about simple. A friend also told me today that Aldi ones are good plus really cheap! I did a bit of an internet search and cam across 'Jackson Reece'. Has anyone heard of these?

Re: Baby wipes

I truely believe in trial and error/eczema!! Try what you can get fairly easily, then broaded your search. What suits one child with eczema will not suit another. So find one you feel trusted to try and see how it goes. After a year old we moved onto wipes for out of the house but still used warm water at home. This was a balance the skin could cope with. Good luck

Re: Baby wipes

Thanks. I bought some Jackson Reece and has used them a couple of times out and about and touch wood no reaction. So will prob do the same - water at home and wipes in my change bag.

Great, it is all a balancing act of what suits each individual.

Re: Baby wipes

Hi My daughter has eczema we can not use simple babywipes. The only ones that are ok is the huggies pure.. hope that helps but think it's a trail and error thing. Fiona

Water wipes

Has anyone used these? Water wipes? This morning i wiped the baby's neck and hands with a wet wipe and she instantly came up in huge hives all over her neck, on her face and hands. It was awful. She now has a huge red, flared face and the rest of her body too.uUGH back to square one again.
We saw the specialist today so in some ways it was kind of good that she looked so bad. As the pure potions i'd been using had until this morning really cleared her up. I don't normally use wipes on her (just cotton wool and water) so she must obviously be allergic to something in the wipe. Anyway makes me wonder about detergent allergy even more....
I feel so fed up with this roller coaster ride of eczema. I wish it would go away. I feel so tired of thinking about it 24/7. It is becoming an obsession. Does anyone else feel like this? I cn't seem to accept it either. But i know i have too.
also is there anyone out there who had a baby with really bad eczema and now that they are older things have improved? I just don't think i can cope if this goes on forever...
