Re: help me please
Yes get back to your specialist and tell them you need urgent help, your sons quality of life is being seriously affected. Your emotional health must be at a low too. Have you tried creams like Elidel or Protopic? They supress the immune system and work well on my daughter and help my son also but not quite as well. They do not thin the skin as not steroids but you have to take care to sun exposure. Also have you tried Emolin it is a moisturiser which is a spray which does not even need rubbing in, great for bad tender flares, plus the kids love it, they giggle and beg me to use it. At last fun at cream times!!!! It does not suit use everyday but great for when we in a hurry or need less stress day.

Re: help me please
Hi Rowena,
I would go to a natruopath and get him tested for intolerances (food and others), food intolerances don't just show up as eczema around the mouth (I had it all over my hands). It's taken me 6 months to get anywhere with my eczema and alot of that time was wasted with GP's and dermatologist visits and creams. Then a natruopath tested me for intolerances (different to allergies) and I came up positive to a big list of things. Dairy and gluten can be big eczema triggers aswell as a many other things. It does cost about $100-$200 but at least you will know what is causing or contributing to the eczema. Doctors are just going to prescribe more steriods which don't get to the core of the eczema.

hi all, i am new to this site, alittle about me - i'm 26, have a twin and am a student.
for the past 7/8 months, i have been suffering with spots, coming and going, but mostly staying and at the start i was told it was flea bites, then i was told it "might" be scabies, and all that i have been doing is going round in circles. i tried the lyclear crap that my doc prescribed me for scabies and it hasn't cleared up at all, infact it just seems worse, even tho my legs look fine aside from the various spots....
i have come to conclusion that it is atopic ezcma, however im not an expert. obviously i'm not an expert, but something is bothering me.
as i mentioned i have a twin...he has exactly the same spots / patches of red as i do, small red spots, some slightly bigger and more bumpy usually spots grouped together. the bumpy ones are usually on my bottom. both my legs, bum and arms can get very itchy, and sometimes my back will be the same - tho my back isn't that bad at all. so back to the point. my twin was recently diagnosed with DVT - deep vein thrombosis...my father had it and died from it when he was 32. i have come across 2 type of ezcma from researching and i would like to know, if anyone has an idea of what the ezcma i have could be or what the basic stages of it looks like? i say it maybe atopic cos my sister and my nan had it, and then there is my dad who had DVT and that is also hereditry. so i could either have one or both of these things. anyway, i was just hoping someone could offer some help or advice, i will be contacting my doctor tomorrow to refer me to a dermatologist, have had enough of it now to the point i could easily turn the disc saw in the shed on and cut both me legs of (and my bum cheeks) and anything else that has an itch!
lol thanks for any help.
thanks for listening,
ov3rh3at.

since you posted this, has there been any significant improvement?
thanks

Well..It doesn't sound loke scabies. Scabies is usually in the finger creases. And if your family has a medical history of fatal illnesses, then you need to bring it to your G.P's attention. Sounds to me like you need to find a new doctor. One who is better qualified.
G.P's have a way of fobbing you off with treatment, it's a way of making profit and saving money, especially if it is the NHS in the uk.
Ask for a referal, a dermatologist will be able to tell you in minutes if it is scabies(but I don't think it is).
Don't let them fob you off with a cocktail of steroids and ointments. Ask for patch tests to find a possible cause. And tests for other family illnesses.
In the meantime, try changing your washing powder to non-biological. I use surcare. I found persil non-bio to still contain 5% fragrance, but is recomended by the eczema society!!
What ever skin condition you have, it sounds like it is infected, and I am surprised you G.P has not given you something to clear ythe infection. Once that is cleared the itching is usually greatly reduced. Keep your skin hydrated, that will feel more comfortable too.
I hope that has help you.....Don't go out to the tool shed just yet!!!!
I wish you well..x

Re: This may help someone.
There was a significant improvement with this cream until I developed an infection on my foot which resulted in having to go onto antibiotics and back to using a steroid creamov3rh3at wrote:since you posted this, has there been any significant improvement?thanks

I'm now using the body lotion from the same range and finding it very moisturising too.

hi sammie,
thank you for the info, i spoke to my doctor today and demanded i see a dermatologist.and has refered me. he gave me a prescription for Aqueous cream and betnovate, i just read that there is a problem with applying Aqueous cream directly to the skin, so i'm going to find this article and if i do i will post a link to it.
i also told GP about the hereditary side of things, he asked if i have pain in my legs re:dvt and i don't
, will update as soon as i have seen dermatologist- hopefully very soon and i can be happy again

Re: please help if you can :)
I have never used Aqueous cream, I used Oilatum plus. Betnovate is a moderately potent steroid ointment.
I have used this in the past, but I did not like ointments. And usually opted for betnovate c cream. They help to clear any infection.
When applying the steroids, it is always good to remember less is more.
Good for you, getting a referal...Let us know how you get on when you see a dermatologist?
I wish you well..x

hey again,
i'm not sure if there is a waiting list in the nhs for dermatologist....so i think it is a waiting game now
i will keep the "less is more" in mind, i think it will be easy to think to myself if i use more it will go faster, but i think what you say is right and will see how i go with a few finger tips of the stuff....
thank you, i appreciate the help and advice because the last few months have driven me up the wall.
