Thyroiditis is caused by an attack on the thyroid, causing inflammation and damage to the thyroid cells. Antibodies that attack the thyroid cause most types of thyroiditis. As such, thyroiditis is often an autoimmune disease, like juvenile (type 1) diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.

Hi,
In a nutshell pollutants and toxins in the air we breathe, the food we eat and the fluids we drink along with poor lifestyle choices have a negative impact on all hormone producing glands. Thyroid glands being one of the most metabolically active gland is often the first to be affected. In many cases, the hyppthyroidism is Autoimmune in nature, triggered by any of the above factors
Genetic factors and nutritional deficiencies also play a role in the genesis of hypothyroidism. Untreated or inadequately treated hypothyrodism in the mother during pregnancy can lead to thyroid deficiency in the new born.
Added to the above is the adverse effect of ambient radiation, microwave and electromagnetic radiation.
