The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) is the UK’s leading mental health research and development charity. Since 1949 we have been working tirelessly to improve the lives of people affected by mental health problems, reduce the suffering caused by mental ill health and help everyone lead mentally healthier lives. Our work focuses on helping people to survive, recover from and prevent mental health problems.

We conduct ground-breaking research and evaluation and communicate the findings to government ministers, health and social care professionals and the public. We develop practical solutions for better services for people affected by mental health conditions and learning disabilities. Our high profile awareness campaigns and information work reach millions of people - changing attitudes to mental health and learning disability by tackling stigma and discrimination.

The Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities (FPLD) is an integral department within the Mental Health Foundation. Through its work we help people with learning disabilities live their lives to the full by influencing government and local authority policies and services. FPLD is heavily involved in raising awareness of learning disability issues in order to break down stigma and is widely recognised in the sector for its innovative projects that challenge economic and social barriers.
