Dr David Morton
Dr Morton qualified from the University of Oxford in 1999 as a medical practitioner. He has considerable expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients who suffer from mental health problems. He has been practising as a full time psychiatrist for over 12 years and as a Consultant since 2008.
During that time he has trained in a wide range of areas and has developed a specific interest in psychopharmacology, risk assessment and psychosis.
In addition to his private practice, Dr Morton also holds a substantive Consultant post in the NHS. He also as a lead role regionally as a trainer of junior doctors at the Wessex Post-Graduate Deanery.
Dr Morton's aim is to focus very much on personalised care, recovery and a return to well being. The way in which mental health problems affect us is unique to the individual and a one size fits all approach is rarely helpful. Decisions about your care and treatment will be made with you in a collaborative way.
Dr Morton is a much sought after Forensic Psychiatric Expert Witness in the Criminal and Civil courts.
Dr Morton is a fully accredited and practising trainer of forensic psychiatric trainees and currently holds the position of Forensic Psychiatry Training Programme Director at the Wessex Deanery. He has received training as an expert witness and provides training to other Psychiatrists in expert witness and report writing skills.
He has undertaken training in report writing and giving evidence in court. He has also undertaken specialist training in risk assessment including risk of violence, risk of sexual offending and risks related to stalking and harassment.
