Emma Craythorne
Emma Craythorne is a Consultant Dermatologist and Dermatological Surgeon specialising in the diagnosis and management of skin cancers, sun-damaged skin and scarring at St John’s Institute of Dermatology within Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital. She is a Fellowship trained Mohs and Laser Surgeon. Mohs micrographic surgery is a technique used to treat some complex skin tumours enabling highest possible cure rate. Dr Craythorne has established the UK’s first clinic enabling “virtual” or “surgery free” biopsy of the skin using confocal microscopy and acts as an advisor to the National Institute of Clinical Excellence in this capacity. She leads the skin-imaging group at Kings College London and sits on the Executive Board of the British Society for Dermatological Surgeons. Her research interests focus on malignant and premalignant sun-induced changes in the skin and in skin imaging.
