Re: Can anyone recommend a emollient to use in this hot weat

Paraffin may irritate some sensitive skin, http://eczemablues.com/2012/02/sensitive-skin-product-series-what-ingredient-to-avoid/ I use Physiogel & QV cream for my toddler and we live in sunny Singapore; basically, any cream that doesn't contain the top allergens, then choose whichever price/loo...

Re: Aqueous Cream Warning

Aqueous creams that contain emulsifying ointment, paraffin and preservatives may be ingredients that one can be allergic to. It has been recommended by doctors for many years until recent years, when it appears to be less recommended. If you're an adult, you can go for patch test; then you know whic...

Re: How to temporarily stop using moisturisers?

Not sure if FarenKnight has gone trekking and back. But to anyone reading this, don't give yourself oral steroid or ask for one because you can't have access to moisturizer. Only to be prescribed under doctor, and make sure the doctor is a specialist and a good one because judgment is involved in ge...

Re: Advice needed with baby's treatment

Anna Maria, First - Please calm down; from reading your thread, I can feel your panicky and it's not so good as stress can be passed onto your child which may (or may not) be an eczema trigger http://eczemablues.com/2011/02/what-triggers-itch/ Second - Don't give up on seeking a good specialist, one...

Re: Teachers refuse to help apply cream

That's very sad! My toddler has teachers who love to apply creams for her - be it when she was in infant care or playgroup or nursery. I'm living in Singapore btw.

Re: Advice on hands appreciated!

Hi! I've done an interview with Dermasilk and their product looks suitable for children with very bad eczema and they have gloves too. http://eczemablues.com/2012/01/clothing-that-is-the-nearest-thing-to-a-second-skin-with-anti-microbial-properties/ My child's eczema isn't serious enough to use it, ...

Re: Allergic dermatitis

Hi Auburn1, Good that you found the ingredient from patch test. A lot of products we use may contain ingredients we are allergic to, so it's no surprise. In fact, it isn't that easy to read product labels, identify all the allergens, and find one that doesn't have any possible allergen! So, it's rea...

Re: a few questions about eczema

Hi AnnaMarie, Your name looks so familiar, have I replied to your question? or tweeted you before? In any case, my advice is always first see a child specialist (if you haven't already) and search out one who is specialised either in immunology/allergy/dermatology. Not the usual pediatrician. Second...

Re: Used eczema clothing/mitts for sale

You can try Dermasilk as undergarment; not related to them but did an interview to understand more about their specialty garment for my blog
