Nighttime toilet trips
I think I have a sensitive bladder as I get up to go for a wee at night at least once but sometimes up to four times. I’ve had a bladder scan at my GP and told there’s nothing wrong with me but I need to get this under control. I’ve been offered medication but don’t want to be on anything on a permanent basis-is there anything else I could consider please?

Re: Nighttime toilet trips
This would need a little more assessment
The starting point would be a frequency volume chart over 3 days to assess how much urine you pass at night versus during the day
Your GP should also assess all your medications as many can contribute to fluid accumulation and maybe better used earlier in day
You need to take adequate fluid intake (1.0 to 1.5 litres per day) but restrict fluid intake between dinner and bed. Empty your bladder before going to sleep
You should avoid caffeine (bladder stimulant) and alcohol (diuretic).
If these simple measures are ineffective you should ask to see a urologist for more in depth assessment and management
