Bladder doesn't fully empty
I have been seeing the continence nurse for some time now. During one appointment she performed an ultrasound which showed that my bladder was failing to empty itself fully, about 15ml was left following a visit to the toilet. Any idea as to why this is?

Hi Mami
Thanks for your post. In general, assuming all else is ‘normal’ a residual of 15mls is nothing to be concerned about. We only really raise an index of suspicion if your bladder retains 100mls or more. This can increase your incidence of Infections in the bladder.
I hope this has put your mind at rest.
All the best.

I agree, 15 ml left behind in the bladder is not of clinical significance. But it is important for a clinician to look at the whole picture.
