Does Vulval Lichen Planus clear up?

I've had vulval lichen planus for approximately 5 years with various flareups over that time. One of the practice nurses told me that this is a lifelong condition and it's a question of managing it, which I am doing quite well at the moment. Is this accurate? Does it never clear up?

as far as I'm aware the condition comes and goes. At present mine is not live but i've used dermovate for 6 weeks and have a tube if it comes back again. i think there is a group on face book which you can join and share tips
