Kids skin rash

Two of my nieces aged 3 and 8 developed a severe rash after being on holiday in 34C weather despite regular strong sun cream. It was pink and blotchy on their arms and legs and lasted about a week. Another sister had none. What could it have been?. Unable to attach picture currently. Thank You

Re: Kids skin rash

Dear Sarah
Sorry to hear about your nieces. This sounds like 'prickly heat' a skin rash caused by sweat trapped in the skin, it often occurs in hot humid climates, and is common in children, The pink blotchy areas are caused by clogged sweat ducts, which work overtime in the heat. Prickly heat is often seen on the limbs and where skin touches skin. Hopefully, now your nieces are home, the rash will have subsided, if not and symptoms are continuing, it is best to seek advice from their GP/health care professional.
