Re: Testosterone HRT For Men- Its Potential Benefits and Ris
I'm not the first to post a reply on this, am I? OK here goes!
I'm 70 now and about 6 or 7 years ago I had developed a very low libido which made me unhappy. I thought I'd do some research about it online and HRT seemed it might offer help. It didnt appear to be readily or easily available through the NHS and as I didnt look forward to being fobbed off the idea by an unsympathetic NHS doctor, got in contact with a GP who ran a private clinic for men who were experiencing the same problem as myself. I had a consultation and full blood tests which included testosterone levels and PSA to check the prostate. I was prescribed testogel and applied it once per day to the shoulders over a period of around 12 -24 months. Unfortunately I cant say it had any profound effect on my libido and I decided to stop using it. I am not convinced now my drop in libido was an issue with my testosterone levels which were a bit lower than normal but not so low as to ring alarm bells. I think there is something more to it than that, apart from normal ageing. I'm glad I gave it a go otherwise I would never have known.
