Re: Water wipes

Hi laura

Thanks for sharing your experiences. and for your tips. I hope you are doing ok. It's not easy is it.

My baby definately has a dairy allergy as she has had 2 big reactions with eyes swelling, hives and vomitting after having a tiny blob of milk. We are due to see allergy team in september....can't wait. As just want to crack on and get her some special formula. I have given up dairy (as i breast feed) and there has been a massive improvement in her skin. However she does still have rashes/dry skin. Like you say with your children, i too see hot temperature making her flare. It's a constant monitoring isn't it, of seeing/finding all the different things that seem to irritate their sensitive skins. And then trying to minimise it for them.
The specialist said that in his experience air is the biggest culprit of triggering eczema (ie heat/cold/pollen etc).
Thanks again and wishing you and your kids all the very best.

Re: Water wipes

I recently took my son for food allergy tests, turns out he has a huge intolerance to dairy, especially goats milk which we had been giving him as we were told its better for eczema sufferers. He also has intolerance to wheat, oats, rice, grapes, oranges, and yeast, so we are two weeks into a new diet, with minimal improvement. But we were told that he would get worse before he gets better and also that it could take three weeks before the diet takes effect. But I understand how heartbreaking this is, before I had experience of it myself, I never thought of eczema as a big deal. I am clinging to hope that this diet works as I feel like we have exhausted every other avenue, and I am slowly losing the energy to keep going.
It also became an obsession for me, and I found myself talking about nothing else, thinking about nothing else and spending hours on the net looking for a cure, but the sleep deprevation is the worst, it makes the whole thing so unmanageable. I found that it was all I had to talk to my husband and friends about, and slowly I realised that they were calling less and less (my friends not my husband :-)), bad friends you might say but thinking about it I might be the same, people just don't understand when its not them, and as I'm the only one of my friends with a child they really don't understand, when they call to talk about their hectic social lives the last thing they want is me sobbing and going on about steroid creams and epaderm.
Since we have changed his diet and got him some special pajamas his sleeping has improved, which has helped massively, and allowed me to take a step back and start to accept that this may be a long term issue and that I just need to incorporate it into my daily life, and not make it my daily life, and making this decision has allowed me to live again. I have started to return to pursuing my own interests and relaxing and taking time out, which I had abandoned for months. I had driven myself mad trying to figure out the cause, pollen/food/detergent etc and so many people called with various things they had read or heard, often only added to my confusion and desperation even though they were trying to be helpful. It will get better, we all just need to hold onto that thought.

Re: Water wipes

Hi Moomoo
Your post sounds so much like me. My daughters blood test came back with allergys to Wheat, soya , peanut, Grass and tree pollen we our waiting on some more tests.
But like you I have spent hours/ days researching Eczema. coming home from work sort the kids out then stright onto the laptop to research some more. Friends and family would ring or come around for a chat and I wouldn't be listerning. Wondering what avenue to take next with her eczema. With the sleep deprevation that's a nightmare, unable to function or cope with comments from people etc.

I most say after her tests we took Wheat / Soya & Peanuts out of her diet completely - It took about a month to really notice a change. I use the Dermasilk suits which help at night.

I hope you will see an improvement soon
Fiona xx
