Probiotics?

Hi,

My son first developed a redness around his neck around 2mths of age, which I thought was due to the chaffing of the swaddle but then his torso went all bumpy and eventually became red and angry

I was wondering if anyone is taking or giving their bub Probiotics to help with their eczema? If so, what are your experiences?

Re: Probiotics?

Hi there my son is 1.5 years old and i just started probiotics recently , had a read an article mentioned that if a child was given probiotics before they reach 1 year old , it could reduce the sympton. It would be good for you to give your child probiotic right now as it help to reduce.

I just started probiotics on my son which had severe eczema. I could see the difference where he had stop scratching that often . And also his skin is much better. Please do try. Good luck

Re: Probiotics?

Hi
We use Optibacs for Children probiotics. It's a powder that you can sprinkle on food or put in Juice or Milk

It was the only child friendly one I could find. This is the website see what you think?
http://www.optibacprobiotics.co.uk/shop ... ealth.html

the only reason I wanted to use probotics was because she always had infected Eczema, alway having colds and her tummy always looked swollen and with the continuous use of antibiotics which isn't good for our bodies but we had no choice. So I looked into Probiotics.

It is very hard to say if the probotics has really helped our daughter. I know for sure that her diet was the biggest thing and since changing it she is much better.. She still has flare up's but nothing like before
I hope this helps... Fiona x

Re: Probiotics?

Hi there

Yes we use probiotics too. We use SOLGAR ABC DOPHILUS powder multiple strain, 100% dairy free. Suitable for infants and children. I have been using it on my baby and 3 year old. It's a powder that you can mix with drink or food. I feel like it is helping, alongside food elimination and emollient and intermittent steroid use.

Re: Probiotics?

Hi,

Thanks for your responses.
My son for the past week had a pretty bad flare up :(
I did get the Inner health plus eczema relief probiotic which i put into his milk but he didn't like the taste and only had less than half his formula,
as well as taking Flaxseed oil and added Alpha Keri bath oil. I guess I should of just did one thing at a time so now I don't know what caused such a bad reaction.
He's recovering now but still has dry, flaking skin.

With the ABC Dophilus® Powder for infants and children, how young can you start them on it?

Re: Probiotics?

hi

Sorry your son is having a bad flare up but glad he is recovering. I've been using the probiotic since about 6 months old but i have a friend who has used it from about 5 weeks old. My understanding is it's safe.
