Hi all,
My 6 month old son has suffered from severe atopic exzema since 3 weeks old, it has been 5 months of hell trying to get a grip on his eczema and seemingly going nowhere. He skin care routine was steroid cream twice a day, nystaform once a day, emoliant oitments 3 times a day and wet wraps at night - the improvement in his skin was still only minimal.
I decided to do some research myself and stumbled across the Dermasilk website and as the clothes are available on prescription thought i had nothing to loose in trying them.
My son has been wearing the bodysuit and leggings (i have a balaclava too but he pulls that straight off!)for 3 weeks now and the difference in his skin is outstanding. I no longer need to wet wrap him and have only needed to use the steroid cream sporadically in a few stubborn patches. I use cream emmoliant twice a day now which is sooooo much better than the ointment as we are not always greasy (im sure he gets more on me than him when i cream him!) and a soak in the bath with aveno oil is all i have to do and his skin is the best it had ever looked.
I wanted to share this as I hope that they can work as well for someone else as they do for my son.

Thanks! I've just stumbled upon this site trying to find some clothing to help my 14 month old. Wasn't aware Dermasilk was available on prescription - will ask the doctor about that.

Hi everyone,
My 7 month old son is now wearing Dermasilk suits daily but now he is weaning, they are getting quite stained with food. Does anyone one know the best way to get stains out without damaging them? I am washing them in non bio by hand at the moment but either im rubbish at it or its not enough to get the stains out!
Any ideas?

I too cannot get a stain out of my daughters Dermasilk suits. It is either cereal or blood from scratching. I use noon bio washing powder and the hand wash cycle on my washing machine. I would also appreciate any tips.

I have just had an email back from someone at Dermasilk and he says he is going to ask around and come back to me. All he did say was definately no bleech as it makes the silk yellow and brittle
Will post more when i get more information.

Having spoken with Espere they would provide the following guidelines for getting stains out of Dermasilk clothing:

"Soak the garments overnight in a solution of 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda per litre of water, rinse and then wash normally. DO NOT USE BLEACH OR FABRIC CONDITIONERS".

Hi does anyone know anything about dermasilk or any success stories? I am trying to get it prescribed to me from the NHS at the moment and according to lots of sites it's really good and has a high success rate. If you or any loved ones have used it I would love to hear your stories!!

Yes both my children have the Dermasilk on prescription, the pyjama sets but can be worn under day clothes when needed. They are a great help and very comfortable. My son also has the balaclava which is great for face and neck flares. They seem to cover the body and sooth the itch without getting them hot.
