Eczema Legs with pictures

Anyone seen miserable eczema like this on legs before? I have to wear shorts year round. I can't sleep with covers on my legs, even in extreme cold conditions. Obviously I can't work a regular job because of the eczema which knaws away my legs day and night not allowing me to wear pants.

I take vitamins, sulphasalazine (immunosuppressant), use coconut oil and vasoline, benadryl. I'll use triple antibiotic ointment and tea tree oil to prevent infection. You don't want this stuff getting infected. Trust me on that.

Misery... pure misery.

Re: Eczema Legs with pictures

Do you know if you are allergic to washing powder? Biological powder and Perfume is a massive trigger so bedding/clothes could trigger it as could shampoo and body wash that are fragranced. try using no perfume for a while - check all products very carefully!!!
What about an allergy to wool? wool carpets could set you off-or wool socks or wool lined boots/slippers? just some suggestions- you must keep your finger nails real short/ tape them over at night so you can't itch. Dust mites is common also- new allergen bedding/mattress topper may improve situation. hope thats helpful.
ps tea tree oil can also set off allergies- check the label to see what else is in there.
Cotton clothing is a must- you could wear excema cream under cotton long johns under trousers?

Re: Eczema Legs with pictures

Thank you for reply MissMay; however, I have psoriatic arthritis. My immune system is overdriven and this is part of the result. It stays 24/7/365 and never leaves under any circumstances. Over time, it has grown worse. I take drugs to lower my immune system and use coconut oil, tea tree oil, and antibiotic ointment (for the open sores).

I keep my fingernails short. You said something about taping up your hands. What do you mean by that?

Hi AgeofKnowledge,

Is your eczema on your leg - localized or general? If you're scratching at night, you can consider wet wrapping your leg. If you suspect it's detergent, you can wash your clothes twice. Also, you can clean your leg with chlorhexidine to reduce the staph bacteria on it. And of course, moisturizing.

Take care,
Mei

Re: Eczema Legs with pictures

It's not due to an allergy. I have an overdriven immune system with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

Aw, that looks really uncomfortable. Sorry for your troubles.

Don't know if it can help, but I am putting my little one in skintoskin now and its helping her alot.

I buy from here http://uk.skintoskin.eu/ and have seen that they also do adult stuff.

Hope you can find something that helps...

Re: Eczema Legs with pictures

Well the doctor told me today that it's psoriasis more than eczema on my legs (psoriasis is worse than eczema apparently) and that's why the normal eczema treatments aren't working. They gave me some clobetisol ointment and told me to use it 2x a day on my legs for 2 weeks.
