Please Help

HI,

I am new to this forum and would like to share what I am going through as I am at my wits end :( I have eczema come and go my whole life and been prescriced the usual emollionts, steriods, cream etc. Most of these never work and the eczema seems to leave for another day. Since about October last year I eczema all around my legs, quite dark veins and just generally not nice legs. I also worked in a supermarket at the time and was moved to the Deli section so naturally the hot/cold and washing of hands was a nightmare and my eczema flared up like crazy to the point were I broke down to the doctor and got a week of work to try and heal. This help only slightly for my hands. I very quickly got a new job in an office. Through out this my legs were still not clear and I now my sides and back were flaring up day in and day out. Some days were worse than others. I have never been able to control it. In the meantime i did get a referral to the hospital and the dermo just said, oh its all routine you need cream, emollient and steriod to control it. I have been scheduled for an allegry testing at the end of August.

This past week however is the worst. My skin is on FIRE. I am just back from camping at a festival were my skin wasnt terrible but since i got back its been raw. I went to the doctor who immediately said scabies. My boyfriend isnt itchy at all. So I have applied the Prem stuff two days ago and washed off and my skin is just awful and unsightly. TO explain how my skin looked, it was large patches of red dry skin, yes very itchy and very red after water was near it. I have been applying Aquadrate which is horrible in consistentcy. My skin is very red and dry. I look like a burn victim honestly.

A couple of things though that make me think different. I am a very on edge worrier. Since being with my BF since November i've been quite an anxious person. Also i have been taking my Pill two months in a row at a time and not had alot of periods because of this (and could explain my moods - Cilest pill). Can the Pill give vitamin deficiencies making my skin bad? I take vitamins constantly becuase I read all about fixing yourself internally. I so desperate for my skin to go back to normal. I dont want to get up in the morning :(

I'm sure im missing info cause Im typing so quick but just wondered if anyone else has had the red dry skin on back and sides like I have?

Thanks x

Re: Please Help

Hope you do get some answers after the allergy test; meanwhile, do hang on with moisturizing and it'd be good to choose one without the top allergens in the meantime.

Take care,

Re: Please Help

Treating your stress or worry is extremely important as stress triggers an immune reaction that can make your skin worse, for many weeks after the stress.Try adding soem lavender drops to a bath - this can sooth the skin and the mind. There are many natural herbal products that can help you control your stress, so this would be a good place to start.

Try taking quercetin tablets, to turn off the itch and inflammation fast.

Re: Please Help

Long-term atopic eczema, getting worse, getting better but not clearing up with moisturisers and topical steroids, is often linked to habitual scratching. If that is the explanation in your case, the good news is that help is available. An easy to use technique called habit reversal can be learnt from a book, and combined with your moisturisers and topical steroids, will give great results in 4-6 weeks.
