Problems on feet

I have some issues with bad skin on my feet. My GP has told me it's just hard skin and I shouldn't worry but I am feeling pain underneath the skin like it's bruised but it's so itchy I need some advice on whether it is just eczema or if it's something I should take further

Re: Problems on feet

It looks like your feet are experiencing a mix of extreme dryness, cracked skin, and possibly some underlying inflammation, which could be causing the pain and itching. While your GP mentioned hard skin, the discomfort you're describing—especially the bruised sensation—could indicate deeper irritation, eczema, or even a fungal infection. The peeling and small cracks might allow bacteria to enter, leading to secondary infections, which could explain the sensitivity. I'd recommend using a rich urea-based foot cream (10-25%) to soften the hard skin, paired with an anti-itch hydrocortisone cream if eczema is suspected. Also, consider soaking your feet in warm water with Epsom salts and wearing moisture-locking socks overnight. If the pain worsens, spreads, or you notice signs of infection (swelling, redness, warmth), definitely push for a second opinion—possibly from a dermatologist or podiatrist. Stay on top of hydration too, as internal dryness can worsen skin issues!
