Needing the loo in the night
I am very concerned about my partner – he is relatively young at 49 but recently I have noticed that he seems to keep going to the loo a lot particularly at night – and its not just when he’s drunk a lot of beer! He’s very independent – never goes to the doctor and he’d never think of having a check up due to his ‘age’ as as far as he is concerned he is still in his twenties. Do you think there might be a problem and if so what do you think is the best way to bring the subject up – as I have no idea at all.

Ah men!! Why do they hate going to the doctor so much!! At 49 he is not such a youngster any more and there are lots of health checks that he should have including blood pressure, heart, cholesterol, diabetes. The NHS are promoting an MOT for the over 40s - would he be persuaded to go for that?
Although serious problems with the bladder and prostate are rarer in this age group they are not unheard of and we should never ignore new symptoms.
Make him a appointment and drag him along!
