Can't stop the accidents
A question from Diane who sent in a question for our bladder clinic:
I have a sensitive bladder, and wear an incontinence pad during the day. This is usually fine, but I have urge incontinence and sometimes when I get the urge 'to go' I literally lose control of my bladder totally. This is deeply embarrassing, and there are days I have arrived home soaked through, and also days when I have made it to my door but by the time I have found my house keys and unlocked the door I have literally 'gone totally' and get into the house soaking wet. Is there anything I can do to avoid this happening?

Hi Diane
Sorry to hear the problems you've been having. There are a number of things that can trigger these symptoms such as stress. Have you noticed anything in particular that triggers your symptoms? Caffeine and fizzy drinks can also make this problem worse so it's best to avoid these drinks to see if your symptoms improve. If not, there are many other options for treatment, and you don't need to suffer with your symptoms. I would recommend seeing your doctor/urologist and they can discuss the range of options available to make your symptoms manageable.
Hope this helps!
